The roots of the business model movement lay in a PhD dissertation by Alexander Osterwalder that started in 2000. Later on, Alexander Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur introduced the Business Model Canvas methodology in their best-selling book „Business Model Generation“, which sold more than 1 million copies. Since then, the Business Model Canvas has become the best known and most widely adopted business modelling solution to ideate, describe, design and test business models. The concept is used by both startups as well as the best-known and most powerful incumbent organizations worldwide. To accelerate adoption of the Business Model Canvas, we have developed the most flexible open source business model toolkit. Join the movement!
